Packing suitcases

Welcome to the beginnings of my new blog! I promise I'll have more content uploaded soon. Today, however, I need to get back to packing, so this post will be short and sweet.

Hi! My name is Meg Coker, and I am a graduate student in the School of Library and Information Science at the University of South Carolina. Tomorrow morning I will begin my journey to San Antonio, Texas, where I will be working as a graduate intern in the library/archive of the Witte Museum for the summer. I want to share my various adventures on the way and while I'm there with all y'all. Hence the blog.

For those who aren't as big of a cultural heritage institutions geek/nerd as I am, GLAM is an acronym for Galleries, Libraries, Archives, & Museums. I am a bit of a "cross-pollinator" in that I would love to spend my career in the intersections between the traditional methods and environments of both libraries and museums. Since I will be working in the new library/archive of a museum, and I hope to visit many institutions of all four types over the course of the summer, I thought the term GLAM was pretty applicable and a rather fun way to summarize my focus.

Anyway, I look forward to sharing the next leg of my adventures with you, but for now I must leave you with the first of many images I hope to include: me during a previous graduate internship in the GLAM sector, showing just how "glamorous" work like this can get:

I'll see all y'all in Texas!
